The medium is the message
1 min read
Now that you’ve thought about your values and aligned those to your truths and memories, take a moment to consider how you want to deliver them.
Common options include:
- Letters
- Video recordings
- Audio recordings
- Memoirs
If you’re having trouble thinking of what you’d like to share and want the medium taken care of, Storyworth was something that Kody’s mom really enjoyed. It provides prompts and – using your answers – creates a book of your memories.
Other, slightly more imaginative ideas for those with kids:
- Create an email address for your children and periodically send them emails. Then, give them the password to the account on their 18th birthday.
- Pre-record messages for big moments in their lives (sacraments, high school graduation, wedding, birth of first child, etc.). Helpful for both making the events extra meaningful and making sure you can share your thoughts if anything happens to you.
There really are no bad options for sharing your memories, as long as you choose a medium that works for you. Maybe that’s a book or maybe that’s scheduling coffee dates to share those stories in person and over time. The important part is the sharing.
